Meeting Point: National Central Library YouBike station – Exit 6 (walk straight to reach the YouBike station – 1min), Chiang Kai-Shek MRT Station (click here)
After a short introduction by our guide we will kick-off the tour from here.
National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial
It’s a national monument, landmark and tourist attraction in memory of Chiang Kai-Shek, the former president of the Republic of China. The memorial includes as well the beautiful national theater and national concert hall.
Presidential Office Building
In 1929, the Japanese built this building. At that time it was the highest building in Taiwan.
Bopiliao Old Street is like dipping in the old times – beautiful renovated old Taiwanese houses give you an indication on how Taipei looked like in the ancient time.
Passing a local traditional market before accessing the old Japanese market. This is definitely a nice local experience.
Huaxi Snake Alley
This local night market (local market during the day) was famous as real snakes were sold and eaten there.
This bikeway is stunning due to many reasons … green lawns, open area and amazing skyline views over the river.
In former times Dihua Street has been the center for commerce in Taipei. Nowadays you still see all the old customs houses and a endless number of shops selling Chinese medical herbs and fabrics and souvenirs.
Here we will also have a coffee break and enjoy some good coffee / tea.
Dalongdong Baoan Temple
This Taiwanese folk religion temple was built by clan members from Tong’an, Xiamen and Fujian who immigrated to Taipei in the early 19th century.
Confucius was a Chinese teacher, editor, politician and philosopher. The temple is very elegant and peaceful … a great spot to escape the buzzling city.
Taipei Expo Park
This Park was developed for the Taipei International Flora Exhibition. Nowadays it is not only a park but also a marketplace, museum, rose garden, etc. …
It’s a secret spot for watching airplanes to take-off and to land! You will be amazed when airplanes fly just a dozen meters over your head!
Finish Point: YouBike station – Zhongshan Junior High School MRT Station (click here)
After approx. 2-3 hrs it is time to say goodbye. We hope you had a great time and we were able to bring you the local Taipeinese life a bit closer.
What others say
Ciao – I joined this bike tour as a friend told me about. And I really was very satisfied. So many hidden spots that I would never have discovered by my own. Mia is a great guide … she knows her hometown 🙂 … Grazie mille!!!
Simply amazing. The Taiwanese breakfast was delicious and the bike tour very interesting (especially all the little stories) and exciting. Can only recommend to join!!
I did a couple of bike tours in Taipei but this was one of the best as we really went local. I almost felt like a Taipeinese for a couple of hours. Thanks Mia and Leo!
Salut Mia et Leo, merci a nouveau. Votre tour étais superbe. J’ai trop aimé les détails et les petits histoires que vous avez racconté. Trop beau. A bientot j’éspere 🙂
One of the best thing we have done during our vacation to Taiwan. Even for me – a Chinese – it is very interesting to discover the hidden spots of Taipei. Well done and see you soon!!!
Only had a layover in Taipei and decided to join the old city tour with the bike tour. Best layover I ever had. Such a refreshing and cool ride through this city. Taiwan is definitely on my bucket list now.
